Whizz, Flash and Boom

Yippee lots of fireworks got set off and 'relatively' little damage was caused to myself, guests, neighbours, properties in the vicinity and local wildlife. Several of those involved in lighting the blue touchpaper did experience a few burns trying to light too many at once...... Hence the nice pic of a blister!. All carnage was restricted to a 'safe' area with only one rocket stick hurtling down to earth onto the roof. Things did look a little hairy when I forgot to mention to partially bury a barrage firework to the person lighting it and saw it lurch to the side every time a shot went up to fall back down just in time for the next shot!. It could have been quite fun launching blasts at almost horizontal angles!. Everyone should by now have recovered from the local burns unit know as Chris and Ginnys kitchen freezer.
The garden does look like 'Ground Zero' with numerous burnt out shell tubes and scorched ground, fence and hedges! Luckily the weather held out so we didn't get too wet though Jo wins the silly hat award, it was admittedly a sensible idea to wear one!.
Well done Rob for sustaining us all with food though we will be eating hot dog sausages for weeks now.
Next year I will not be tempted by the huge looking Roman Candle which was a bit of a flop compared with some of the small rather loud barrage things we found, but I will take Larry along as he has now developed a rocket fetish. Jo will be in charge of lighting everything as she has conquered her fear of loud banging explosives and we have the photos of her lighting rockets with maniacal glee to prove it!. Marshmallows being warmed on our fire probably will not happen again as we are still trying to remove the mess from the rug........................
