'It was 40 years ago today, Sgt pepper taught the band to play'

40 years ago today The Beatles released in my opinion one of the most influential conceptual albums of all time. My very early formative years as a small child I remember this album being played almost constantly in the house in between Cat Stevens and ELO, a truly bizarre introduction to music which may explain the weird stuff I listen to now but every time I hear this album it takes me away to that time of innocence.

Every time I go to visit the relatives I have to dig out the dusty vinyl and play it in a sort of obsessive behaviour thing. I certainly wouldn't have delved into spiritualism and wondering what all the fuss was about marijuana and hallucinogenics if it hadn't been for the Beatles...

And as the final weirdness of this album on it's 40th anniversary is the day I hand in my final divorce papers to the courts. It's like John Lennon somehow knew what would be happening 40 years on....... Well maybe someone out there is telling me to have a listen again today.
