4th July Fireworks....
So as the 4th of July is around the corner, this is fairly well known as American independence day. A time when the citizens of the USA remember and celebrate their casting off the yoke of British colonial rule. Lots of fireworks get let off and as a big fan of fireworks I'm sure it's all a great fun patriotic event. This year with Donald Trump as President it appears to have become a very contentious political issue.
To be honest at first I thought Donald Trump was just being his normal egocentric megalomania 'Make America Great Again' self being like a kid in a toy shop ( or me in a fireworks shop...) going completely OTT on fireworks to celebrate. Donald Trump always has to have the biggest or bigger everything, especially when it comes to outdoing anything done before as a president. He might be trying too hard to be 'The best ever president' or something....
In addition a slightly more worrying trend is the appearance of tanks and jet fighter planes. Firstly I can't actually remember if the 4th July has had any military parades with hardware like this before. I am no expert though not being American. This is causing the expected backlash in the media and calls to boycott coverage of the event. The question is who is meant to see it?. The Americans, China?, Iran or does Trump just want to take the toys out?. Is this saber rattling ?
