Football

Footy season is over, as usual my team did nothing noteworthy but didn't get relegated out of the division so at least that's something. I am now getting a bit disillusioned with English football with the vast sums of money needed by clubs to buy players for vast fees that might give you a chance of competing in the top flight.

Admittedly my team are somewhat lucky in a rich new owner has arrived so we may be able to compete on the 'level playing field' so to speak but it really shouldn't be a case of the team with the most money gets the best players and hence all the trophies.

Well to do something about this and have some fun a new website has been launched

The idea is people sign up to buy an English football club. The site is aiming for 50,000 investors each paying £35 if successful and all having an equal say in which club is bought and all the management of the team finances, players bought and sold, TV rights etc. This is all a great idea and I hope it comes off. Presently Leeds United top the list of potential clubs to buy. Personally I reckon Notts County as they are the oldest club in the country and already have fans helping out by donations to pay the players wage bill, if anyone needs help it's them. They are also local so I suppose I have a bit of bias. Lincoln City too may be good, always looking promising in the lower leagues but could do with some cash injection to make the next step. Or Nottingham Forest ex European Cup holders that have fallen from grace, could they do it again given some money?
