Terror-fied

There is a quote I have often thought was particularly true 'One mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter'. I am quite annoyed at all this global paranoia of terrorists everywhere plotting to destroy our western society at every turn. This is claptrap. A few militant/mad/brainwashed/foolhardy individuals are plotting attacks on Governments they perceive as enemies to their own set of values. These values are not as some may perceive that far removed from any freethinking individual anywhere on the planet. The problem we seem to be experiencing is our freely elected western governments in our western democracy (as opposed to supposedly non democratic Muslim states) are not acting for the people by the people who elected them unlike Muslim states which act in accordance to Islamic law and do not invade countries on a whim to impose there form of idealistic government amongst other unsavoury goals. The Afghanistan and Iraq conflicts were instigated by governments to remove these 'rogue states' from causing problems in the future to our western style global democracy and secure resources for our future use which has been why most wars have occurred through the ages. And we were told a raft of reasons to make us support these invasions and the subsequent loss of life/ use of our taxes etc.

1. TERRORISM, it is obviously going to stop terrorists if we invade Muslim countries and remove these regimes. Doh how stupid is that? Terrorists can operate in small cells all over the world and this is a bit like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Did America or England invade Ireland during the 70's to defeat the IRA and remove the Irish Government?. The Taliban may have been a harsh state regime but they were not terrorists. America was quite happy to give funding to the IRA and Mudjahadin for years as they 'saw' them as Freedom fighters fighting the UK (now their unflinching sidekick in this war!) and Russia (those damn reds under the bed commies) to reclaim their countries. Now correct me if I am wrong but when you invade a country and some if not all the populace objects and wants to reclaim it and has no remaining forces, it may have to develop and implement some type of insurgency. This is happening in the countries America decided to invade of late and is exactly the same scenario as the IRA/Mudjahadin. I could list numerous insurgencies globally but you get the picture.

WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION, this has been shown to be complete and utter fabrication of the truth. The proposal was to scare both Governments and their people into supporting a war that was both unjust and ill planned. The truth was never hidden well enough and suggestions of all these nuclear/biological weapons just sitting primed to go a nonsense. We even had timescales and distances of likely targets Saddam Hussein would strike given the chance. There was suggestions he would pass these on to terrorists too (see this terrorism thing just keeps coming up). Osama Bin Laden and Saddam never met, would have radically opposed views on Islam and running a state so unlikely to be best mates though a shared dislike of America/Britain is quite likely given the circumstances of how these countries have behaved in the middle East.

HUMANITARIAN REASONS, when in doubt pull at the heart strings of a nation. Remove the Taliban/Saddam and 'Save' all those poor people being starved, beaten, and killed daily under these brutal and harsh regimes. Give these countries a western democracy (after we have bombed and shot the place to bits) and they will be fine. Oh by the way the only way to have western democracy is for us to stay and install who we want to run your country (nobody say puppet leader!) and if you object we will abolish your right to vote.
Now lets look at how many people are dying in Iraq/Afghanistan daily and if this new democracy is in place and working compared with before these countries were invaded to defeat terrorism (it doesn't look good does it?).

OIL, well we western states love our oil don't we. Well if we don't have to buy it from OPEC yes!. If we can keep the price below $3 a gallon, yes!. It could pay for the war effort with the amount of reserves in Iraq. We could build pipelines through Afghanistan if the Taliban were gone..... hmmm this could be the real reason. If America had spent the same money on searching for oil reserves and building drilling rigs/refineries they might actually have cheaper oil now considering the amount they are getting from Iraq at the minute.

I think we should all ponder the Bush/Blair war on terror a little more closely now. The recent incitement to commit terrorism bill brought before the UN supposedly is to lay out in specific terms what a terrorist is but 'One mans Terrorist is another mans Freedom Fighter'. Now I am off to avoid my three months detention without trial.............
